Ping-backs: A Very Quick Tutorial On How to Create One

What you should know:

Pingbacks are only created when you link to another WordPress blogger.

Pingbacks are only created when you link to their specific post or page, not when you link to their blog’s home page, or if you mention their name.

Pingbacks are not created if you link to a post in one of your widget areas, or if the link is in the Comments section.

A ping-back must be MODERATED (unless the other person has turned comment moderation off, which almost never happens) so don’t expect it to show up instantly. Also note, Akismit (the WordPress spam filter) has been known (at least by me) to see some ping-backs as spam.
