Go to your media library.

Click on the image you want to link.

In the bottom right, change the “link to” option to “Custom URL”.

Enter the URL you want and insert into post!

You need to remember that updating in your image library will NOT automatically update existing posts!

So, you will need to re-add images in your previous posts that you wish to link to URLs.

    • If you have a look at the image in the post, you will see that below “Upload Files” and “Media Library” there is a drop-down which is set to “All Media Items” by default.

Open the drop-down menu and select “Unattached”.
However, before you begin deleting, just make sure that you are not deleting your header image or featured images for posts.
This is not the perfect solution, but it is the closest work-around I can find.

Please have a look, I changed the title of this post to make it clearer. Following these instructions will essentially turn an image (whether it is in a post, on a page, or in a widget) into a click-able link that will take you to an URL of your choosing.
